State Champions: MHS Ag Mechanics team wins state event

Monache's FFA Ag Mechanics Fair Team took home the Silver Bowl as State Champions from the State Finals competition held on Friday, June 13 at the College of Sequoias Tulare Campus.

The FFA Agriculture Mechanics Fair recognizes those FFA members in the state who are excelling in the application of mechanical principles and technology in their agriculture projects. Students build their projects in their Ag Mechanics classes and in Monache’s case, students then exhibit their projects at the Porterville Fair.

The students continued on to compete with other FFA members throughout the State. In addition students must then go through an interview process to demonstrate their Ag Mechanics knowledge and skills.

The following placed for Monache’s Ag Mechanics Fair Team: Ty Ericksen was the Division Winner in Home and Farmstead project; Nathaniel Camerena was the Winner in Farm Implements project; Ashton Blackmon, second in Barbecues and Food Processing Division project; and Orion Dowdy, third in Implements of Husbandry Division project.

Monache’s Ag Mech Fair Team members also included : Landon Chandler, Mateo Rodriguez and Mark Walker.

James Corbett, Ag Instructor and Ag Mechanics coach at Monache stated “It’s fun to compete but it’s a lot more fun when the kids win. They worked hard and built good projects and definitely knew what they were talking about in their interviews.”
