Nursing Services Information

Student Services offers a range of health-related programs for district students. Each year, PUSD school nurses screen students for vision and hearing problems. Health Services also provides health counseling for students, staff, and parents, including communicable disease control. Our nursing staff is led by three credentialed school nurses, supported by five Healthcare assistants and five CNAs.  Our healthcare assistants include both registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses.

PUSD School Nurses are baccalaureate-prepared RNs with additional training and education who choose to practice nursing and promote health in the school setting. School nurses collaborate with families, physicians, counselors, psychologists, and other members of the school team to advocate for children and enrich their learning. School nurses promote health and safety at school through various activities, including conducting health screenings and assessments, managing acute and chronic health conditions, performing health education and training

Automated External Defibrillators

In an emergency, defibrillators are available at all Porterville Unified School District sites.
