Expanded Learning Camps
Porterville Unified Expanded Learning offers three free camps to PUSD TK-6 grade students.
- All of our camps feature hands-on-learning with several opportunities for choice and/or self selected activities.
- We partner with Fresno Discovery Center, Imagine Arts, and several PUSD Departments to offer engaging activities for our students.
- Each camp has a fun-learning focus as described below.
Winter S.T.E.A.M Camp: December or January annually
full day 8:00 - 5:00 or half day options available
Winter S.T.E.A.M. Camp (WSC) is an exciting camp featuring LEGO Education, Fresno Discovery Center, and Imagine Community Arts.
S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Camp is designed to highlight exceptionally fun ways to learn and to create!
PUSD teachers and California Teaching Fellows staff are trained by LEGO Education trainers to provide the highest quality FUN-learning for students. Fresno Discovery Center and Imagine Community Arts companies train their staff to plan engaging activities, specifically, for PUSD Expanded Learning Camps and students.
The student experience:
- Students will design and build their own LEGO creations.
- Students will visit stations provided by Fresno Discovery Center to create, explore, and learn!
- Students will have on-site art lessons provided by Imagine Community Arts that are hands on and S.T.E.A.M. related.
- Students will play games, exercise, and participate in physical activities outdoors (weather permitting).
- Students will enjoy breakfast, lunch, and/or supper while at camp.

Spring Break Sports Camp: Spring Break Annually
full day 7:30-4:30 or half day options available
Spring Break Sports Camp (SBSC) is an exciting camp focused on developing athletic skills, physical activity, and lifelong active lifestyles.
PUSD District Athletic Director, High School Athletic Directors, and High School Coaches provide this amazing camp for students.
We offer several sports and physical activities for students in this 5 day camp. Our camps are held at Monache High School and Porterville High Schools to offer an exceptional experience for our TK-6th grade students.
The student experience:
- Students will participate in a daily kick off rally in the high school gym.
- Students will self select sports or activities to join throughout the day.
- Students will play games, exercise, and participate in physical activities.
- Students will enjoy breakfast, lunch, and/or supper while at camp.
- Students will participate in an end of the day rally.
Sports opportunities may include:
- Soccer
- Cheer
- Basketball
- Baseball/Softball
- Pickleball
- Volleyball
- Football
- Dance/Folklórico
- Cross Country/Track
- Yoga
Registration Deadline: End of February Annually
Summer Camp: The month of June, starting the Tuesday After School is Out (no school on June 19th)
AM Session 8:00- 1:00 and PM Session 1:00-5:00
The Expanded Learning Summer Camp is an action packed camp with several opportunities for our PUSD students.
This year's camp will feature sports, games, character experiences, crafts, hands-on learning, S.T.E.A.M. projects, LEGO, and field trip opportunities. More details coming soon!
The student experience:
- Students will participate in weekly themed activities.
- Students will self select activities to join throughout the day.
- Students will participate in hands-on brain on S.T.E.A.M. projects and LEGO Challenges
- Students will enjoy character experiences, art lessons, and craft activities.
- Students will play games, exercise, and participate in physical activities.
- Students will enjoy breakfast, lunch, and/or supper while at camp.
- Students will have an opportunity to attend field trips. *All field trips are subject to lottery selection and venue availability

Expanded Learning Saturday Workshops
Porterville Unified Expanded Learning offers Free Saturday Workshops to PUSD TK-6 grade students.
- All of our workshops feature hands-on, FUN-learning with several opportunities for choice and/or self selected activities.
- Each workshop has a FUN-learning focus as described below.
Fall Workshop: Saturday in October (Date TBD annually)
8:00 - 5:00 full day or half day options
Fall Workshop is a fun, themed event at each Elementary School Campus.
California Teaching Fellows (our ASP staff) provide engaging activities for students to enjoy while at their school.
The student experience:
- Students enjoy several self selected stations (station examples below)
- Holiday or Fall crafts
- Bracelet or jewelry making
- Story time or Read Aloud stations
- Card Making
- Art (painting or drawing)
- Teambuilding games
- Outside sports and games
- Scavenger Hunts
- Board game competitions
- Cooking or baking
- Students participate in hands-on S.T.E.A.M. activities
- Students enjoy breakfast, lunch, and/or supper
Winter Workshop: Saturday in December (Date TBD Annually)
8:00 - 5:00 full day or half day options
Winter Workshop is a fun, themed event at each Elementary School Campus.
California Teaching Fellows (our ASP staff) provide engaging activities for students to enjoy while at their school.
The student experience:
- Students enjoy several self selected stations (station examples below)

- Letters writing (to Santa or loved ones)
- Art (painting or drawing)

- Students enjoy breakfast, lunch, and/or supper
February Workshop: Saturday in February (Date TBD Annually)
