Six PUSD Schools Earn PLTW Distinguished Status

Five Porterville Unified School District elementary schools and one middle school have earned PLTW (Project Lead The Way) Distinguished Schools 2017-18 designation for meeting criteria during the school year.

Los Robles Elementary School, Olive Street Elementary School, Roche Avenue Elementary School, Santa Fe Elementary School, West Putnam Elementary School, and Sequoia Middle School were named as PLTW Distinguished Schools.

“We are honored to have our schools recognized by Project Lead The Way,” PUSD Superintendent Dr. Ken Gibbs said. “With the addition of the Future Ready Lab Inspired By Qualcomm® Thinkabit Lab™ last September, this award recognizes the importance of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education for our students.”

The PLTW recognition program is designed to honor districts and schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their STEAM education.
