8th Annual Summer Strings Workshop Takes Place July 24-29

The Porterville Summer Strings workshop for 4th to 12th grade students will be held July 24-29 at Porterville College.

With the workshop in its eighth year, the goal of the program is to provide a high quality, inexpensive five-day musical workshop for violin, viola, cello and bass players. This opportunity is again being sponsored for students in the greater Porterville area by Porterville College, with instruments available from Porterville Unified School District. It is the intention of this workshop to provide extraordinary experiences for all willing and qualified students. The week will include coaching on various aspects of musical technique, small group lessons, instrument ensembles, piano, music theory and several recitals.

The student’s cost for the workshop is only $40, if mailed to reach PSS by June 13. After June 13, registration will be accepted on limited basis at $50.

The 2016 faculty will include musicians from around the United States.
