PUSD Students Participate In Youth Leadership #LEAD Program

Porterville Unified School District students participated with Youth Leadership (#LEAD – Lead, Educate, Advocate, and Dedication) in conjunction with the Tulare County Board of Supervisors, Step Up Tulare County and CSET (Community Services Employment Training). The program provides students with a leadership and mentoring program and an emphasis on service learning in order to inspire students to make a difference in their community and foster civic engagement. They are engaged in leadership activities while exposing them to post-secondary education opportunities.

A total of 22 PUSD students (high school juniors and seniors) from Porterville High, Monache High, Granite Hills High, Strathmore High, Harmony Magnet Academy, Citrus High and Butterfield Charter were involved with the program.

Six students received #LEAD scholarships: Ashley Lemus (Harmony Magnet Academy, attending Porterville College), Jose Huerta (Porterville High, attending Porterville College), Kimberly Cisneros (Monache High, attending Porterville College), Viviana Ramos (Granite Hills High, attending Humboldt State), Yalinn Rodriguez (Porterville High, attending Porterville College) and Yanin Cervantes (Granite Hills High, attending Cal State San Marcos).
