Porterville Unified School District entered an agreement with UC Merced to join the Merced Automatic Admission Program (MAAP). UC Merced, the only University of California school in the Central Valley, now has agreements with 32 schools and school districts to create an academic pathway for their students that when satisfied, the student is guaranteed admission to UC Merced.
Students admitted can take advantage of UC's Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan, which ensures that students will not have to pay UC’s systemwide tuition and fees out of your their pocket if they are a California resident whose total family income is less than $80,000 a year and they qualify for financial aid — and that's just for starters.
Blue and Gold students with sufficient financial need can qualify for even more grant aid to help reduce the cost of attending.
