The Class of 2038 in the Porterville Unified School District is taking their first academic step: Kindergarten Registration.
These young learners, including those entering Universal Transitional Kindergarten, UTK, are entering the next chapter of their lives. For parents like Cynthia Flores and Denise Reyes, it's a moment of pride and joy, seeing their children eager to learn and ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.
Flores, a Porterville resident and mother, is preparing her daughter, Isabella Rose, to start UTK this fall. "I'm excited for her,” she said. “She loves school and learning. I'm especially thrilled that she'll be attending a dual immersion school. She even joined me for registration yesterday. We peeked into one of the UTK classrooms, and she looked so excited."
For Reyes, another Porterville parent, the journey continues as her son Angel prepares to transition from UTK to kindergarten this fall. "I feel confident about it, I think he's going to do great," Reyes said. "I already had a student attend Santa Fe, and the staff is great. It's such a positive environment." Reflecting on her son being part of the Class of 2038, Reyes added, "Wow, it feels like such a long time away, but it's so important to start preparing them now."
Angel is looking forward to kindergarten, especially with all the friends he made in UTK. When asked about his aspirations, he shared, "I want to do something very good, like be a firefighter just like my dad."
If you have a Class of 2038 student, now is the time to get them registered for kindergarten. Although on-campus registration days have passed for West Putnam, Vandalia, and Santa Fe, parents can still visit the school’s office to register their children.
