The Strathmore High girls basketball team defeated Central Valley Christian 45-35 on Saturday to win the 44th annual George Glover Memorial Tournament at the Spartans gym.
Strathmore was led by tournament Most Valuable Player Dayanara Topete who had 16 points, five steals and five rebounds. Also for SHS all-tournament selections Alyssa Gonzalez and Jennifer Gonzalez each scored nine points.
Another all-tournament choice Pearl Johnson played a key role for the Spartans on both sides of the floor against a bigger CVC team. Johnson had seven points and 14 rebounds.
Next up for Strathmore will be a game at home against a strong Kerman team at 6:30 p.m. today.
In other tournament action Mt. Whitney beat Summit Collegiate High School 34-24 in the third place game and Exeter defeated Orosi 47-30 in the fifth place game.
Also named to the all-tournament team were Mt. Whitney's Delores Carter and CVC's Ally Lane and Kamryn Westra.
