ELIGIBILITY

If you would like to be approved to drive a PUSD vehicle, please follow these steps.
 
1. Request your Driving History from the DMV. Click Here
 
2. Take a picture of your driver's license and automobile insurance card
 
3. Complete Mandatory Keenan Training. Click Here

RENTAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • Vehicles and Keys for Rental can be checked out at the Transportation Department Office located at 249 S. Western Ave., Porterville. The office is located just South of Porterville High School.
  • You can pick-up the keys during the office hours of 6:00 am - 5:00 pm on the day the rental is scheduled. Items consist of 1) vehicle key and 2) gate remote (Driver’s Visor).
  • If use of the vehicle(s) is scheduled for a Saturday or Sunday, keys must be picked up on the Friday before 3:00pm.
  • For round trips over 250 miles, you will also be provided with a fuel card which can be used at Chevron or Texaco gas stations. The PIN# for the card is XXXX, enter odometer (press 1), then enter.
  • A RECEIPT IS REQUIRED FOR ALL GAS PURCHASES.
  • If you need to leave a personal vehicle when picking up the rental, you can park your car in the space where the vehicle you are using is parked (swap places).
  • Return the vehicle to the Yard. Enter the yard through the gate off Western Ave. Should the gate be closed upon your return, use the gate remote that is located on the driver’s visor. Park the vehicle in the same location it was picked-up (swap places).
  • Make sure all trash and personal items have been removed from the vehicle, and the vehicle is locked and secured. Note: a $25 cleaning charge will be billed to your school if this is not done.
  • VEHICLES MUST BE RETURNED TO THE TRANSPORTATION YARD ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHEDULED TRIP.
  • Place the vehicle key, gas card and fuel receipts in the drop box located next to the Transportation Office Entrance Door.
  • Trip mileage will be determined by the installed GPS system.

IN CASE OF ACCIDENT

Report all accidents to the Transportation Department immediately and obtain the following information:
  1. Name and address of each driver, passengers, and witness
  2. Name of Insurance Company and policy number for each vehicle involved.
