Message from Principal Jeff Bottoms

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year at Granite Hills High School. GHHS starts and ends with education because learning is what a school is designed to inspire, but there is so much in between: athletics, activities, leadership, travel, connection, and expression. Our students participate in 21st Century classrooms, surrounded by progressive technology, top-quality teachers, and contemporary resources, and participate rigorously in the process of learning and applying knowledge and skills critical in the world today. They also participate in Pathways structured around specific designs: the Digital Design & Communication Pathway (DDC) provides students with experience in video and audio technology, web design and digital publishing; the Law, Justice and Education Pathway (LJE) explores the many facets of public service. The music program at Granite Hills is developing into an integrated unit of performing arts, with opportunities in instrumental music, vocal music, and drama, with turns in unique specializations like Drum Line, Concert Choir, Treble Choir or Band Auxiliary. The Associated Student Body (ASB) provides students the ability to stretch their leadership muscles, and service opportunities abound in Cadets, AVID, LINK, Peer Mediation, Grizzly Academic Support (GAS), FFA, Key Club, and more. There is plenty of room for the athlete at Granite Hills, too, and the athletic facilities are incomparable.

Granite sits in an extraordinary setting and was designed to bring the spectacular view of the foothills surrounding the school into the landscape of the campus; no matter where one stands at Granite Hills High School, the natural beauty of the area is displayed. The care taken in the design of the school helps to create an atmosphere that is both comfortable and stimulating. Teaching, learning and doing blend together well in Granite's environment.

Excellent academics, opportunities in athletics, activities, the arts, leadership and community service, Pathways linked to school, community and beyond, an environment that encourages the best from those in attendance, and a safe campus; Granite Hills High School has much to offer, and what it offers is good for life.

Again, welcome to Granite Hills High School.

Apolinar Marroquin, Principal
