Granite Hills High Produces Three Class of 2016 Dell Scholars

Three Granite Hills High students were named Class of 2016 Dell Scholars as Sabrina Banuelos (attending UC Irvine), Erik Castillo (UC Santa Barbara) and Michelle Snowball (Gonzaga) each will receive $20,000 towards his or her college education, along with a Dell laptop and textbook credits.

Since the program’s inaugural class in 2004, Granite Hills has produced 11 Dell Scholars Program winners.

The Dell Scholars Program is a college completion program unique in the type of students it supports and how it nurtures and empowers those students on their path to a college degree. An initiative of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, the Dell Scholars Program provides its students with resources and mentoring beyond initial financial assistance to ensure they have the support they need to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

The program awards 300 scholarships annually and since 2004, have provided students with over $60 million in college scholarship and support services. The GPA (Grit, Potential and Ambition) requirement of the program focuses on students who overcome personal challenges in their lives related to their families, schools or communities, students who participate in college readiness programs and seeking out academic rigor and those who dream of obtaining a college degree.
