Porterville Unified School District has scheduled kindergarten registration (2016-17 school year) for the district’s 10 elementary schools in late March-April (single date depending on school location). In accordance with the Kindergarten Readiness Act (Senate Bill 1381), students reaching the age of 5 on or before September 1 can enroll in kindergarten, but those students reaching the age of 5 between September 2 and December 2 will be enrolled in a transitional kindergarten program, which is a two-year program.
The schedule for each school is as follows: Los Robles (March 30), Santa Fe* (April 4), Vandalia (April 5), West Putnam (April 8), Westfield (April 12), Roche Avenue (April 14), Belleview (April 15), Olive Street (April 19), John J. Doyle (April 20) and Monte Vista (April 21).
*-The Dual Immersion Kindergarten program at Santa Fe is not transitional kindergarten. Students must be five years old on or before September 1 if applying for enrollment in Dual Immersion Kindergarten.
