Who May Enroll
Enrollment is open to all adult students 18 years of age or older, regardless of educational background. Emancipated minors and minors that are ‘actively parenting’ may also be admitted under certain circumstances (Ed Code 52610.5)
When and Where to Enroll
Counseling and registration services are available at Porterville Adult School, located at 900 W. Pioneer Avenue, Porterville. ;Students may enroll for classes two weeks prior to the beginning of the fall semester and throughout the rest of the school year. ;Most classes are open for enrollment year round. ;An Adult School administrator must approve all enrollment for high school diploma credit. ;All student who enroll will receive an official Student ID with picture; it must be carried and presented upon request. A replacement will cost $10.00.

Porterville Adult School has many programs available. Scheduling is available weekly. Please call 782-7030 for information regarding counseling for high school diploma class enrollment.
Books and Supplies
Wise Buys Student Store Hours
Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 11:45 am
A limited amount of textbooks are available in each classroom for student use. Adult Ed students must furnish their own supplies and textbooks. New and some used textbooks are available in the Wise Buys student store. Text Books may be returned for a partial refund at the conclusion of the course if they are still in good condition. All book refunds are processed in the office Monday, thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Original receipts are required to receive a refund on books that are returned. A Refund Request form must be completed and signed by the student. All textbook refunds are given in the form of a school check. Please allow up to ten working days to process refund. There are NO CASH REFUNDS. When the student returns to claim their refund, they must present the copy of the Refund Request form that was given to them when they returned their book.
Fees
Although High School, ABE, GED, ESL and EL Civics remains FREE, beginning August 1, 2012, a re-enrollment fee of $20.00 is charged if a student is dropped from class due to a lack of attendance, effort, disruption, etc and then re-enrolls. Re-enrollment fees are paid in the office and due before re-enrollment; CASH or CREDIT only.
Refund Policy
All deposits/fees for classes are non-re-fundable. Yet, some fees or deposits may be refunded if a notification of withdrawal from a class and a request for a refund is made in writing on the Student Refund Request form at least 5 working days prior to the start of the class. Original receipts, both handwritten and cash register receipt must be presented. If the class is cancelled by the district, deposit/fees are refunded upon request. To complete the refund process a minimum of 10 working days is required.
Financial Assistance
Limited financial assistance may be provided if you are eligible and payment arrangements for career technical education classes are available. Porterville Adult School works cooperatively with the Tulare County Department of Health and Human Services Agency, the Tulare County Office of Education, TulareWORKs, the Workforce Investment Board, the State Department of Rehabilitation, the Employment Connection, Tule River Indian Reservation and several privately funded rehabilitation agencies to offer assistance to members of our community wishing to attend a vocational course. Attend a weekly informational orientation to find out if you qualify for financial assistance or a payment plan.
